Description

Ina Garten’s Crab Dip is a warm, creamy appetizer made with fresh crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, and a blend of spices. It’s baked until golden and bubbly, offering a sophisticated taste that’s perfect for special occasions. The dish is easy to make and pairs beautifully with a variety of dippables.

Ingredients

  • Lump crab meat: 1 pound, fresh or canned, drained
  • Cream cheese: 8 ounces, softened
  • Mayonnaise: 1/2 cup
  • Sour cream: 1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon, freshly squeezed
  • Worcestershire sauce: 1 teaspoon
  • Old Bay seasoning: 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Hot sauce: 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup, grated
  • Cheddar cheese: 1/2 cup, shredded
  • Green onions: 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
  • Salt: 1/4 teaspoon, to taste
  • Black pepper: 1/4 teaspoon, freshly ground

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the dip.
  2. Prepare the crab mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth.
  3. Add the seasonings: Stir in lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional hot sauce until well combined.
  4. Incorporate the crab and cheese: Gently fold in the lump crab meat, grated Parmesan, shredded cheddar, and chopped green onions. Mix until just combined to avoid breaking up the crab meat.
  5. Season to taste: Add salt and black pepper, adjusting to your preference.
  6. Transfer to baking dish: Spread the crab mixture evenly in an 8×8 inch baking dish, ensuring it’s level for even cooking.
  7. Bake the dip: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Serve immediately: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving with your choice of dippables.
